Configuring virtual applications and directories for an Azure Website
There are certain websites which may require virtual applications or directories to be incorporated as a significant part of the website configuration. Azure websites can fully support these configuration requirements. The following settings for an Azure website help in configuring a virtual directory or application.
- Virtual Directory The path that users will use to access the directory or application.
- Physical Path (relative to site) The path leads to the physical directory or application.
- Application The virtual directory is organized as a web application if chosen. Once the checkbox is clear, it will be considered as a virtual directory.
Configuring virtual applications and directories using the management portal
Using the management portal, you can immediately add web applications and virtual directories by opening the Site Settings blade for your website. Scroll down towards the bottom most of the blade where you will find virtual applications and directories section as illustrated in Figure 1
