The Cisco Certified Internetwork Expert Security (CCIE Security) program gives individuals the knowledge and skills to work on, implement, maintain and support extensive Cisco Network Security Solutions using the latest industry best practices and technologies. The CCIE Security track also focuses on network security, and provide individuals with expert level knowledge of specific security protocols and components such as VPN solutions, ASA, IPS and IOS security features. Individuals certified as CCIE Security are certified in configuring complex, end-to-end secure networks, troubleshooting integrated environments, and understanding common attacks and mitigation techniques.
To achieve this certification an individual needs to complete two exams, written and Lab exam.
You must pass the two-hour, written qualification exam before you are eligible to schedule the lab exam.

The eight-hour lab exam. You must make an initial attempt of the CCIE lab exam within 18-months of passing the CCIE written exam. If you do not pass the lab exam within three years of passing the written exam, you must retake the written exam before being allowed to attempt the lab exam again.
There are no other certifications, or training courses required to complete this program. Instead, candidates must first pass a written qualification exam and then the corresponding hands-on lab exam.
It is strongly encouraged that a candidate should have at least 4-5 years job experience or should have deep understanding about the topics included in this exam.
